Alligator Shears
Alligator shears cut scrap metal into smaller pieces and help to separate different material types, earning you more money from your scrap metals. Alligator shears are ideal for recycling scrap bar, tube, extrusions, car radiators, gear boxes and gate valves as well as for weapons destruction and for cutting cable prior to stripping or granulation. Arcon have alligator shear models available for all sizes of material and throughput and for different types of working conditions, powered by both single and 3 phase power supplies as well as diesel options for larger shears. All our shears have been built to last using quality heavy duty components and, with operator safety upper-most in mind, our range of shears are equipped with blade guards and foot-operated switches. For the ultimate in alligator shear safety, the Global range have all working parts totally enclosed with optional heavy rubber safety curtains. rubber safety curtains.
JMC Global Safety Alligator Shears
The JMC Global range of safety alligator shears has been designed with safety as the primary focus so they are fully CE marked and guarded. This range goes one step further with a strong metal case enclosing moving parts and a rugged guard which protects the operator from the blades. The guards have perspex viewing points to improve visibility and further enhance safety.
Global 5000 and 6000 units are equipped with an automatic hold down clamp which holds material in place during cutting and prevents kick back. As an additional safety option, machines can be fitted with strong rubber curtains which shield the operator from flying material. This is particularly important if the metal being cut is quite brittle and means that Global shears are ideal for cutting up and destroying weapons.
The performance of the Global shear range is not compromised by the safety factors. Shear forces vary from 90 up to 120 tonnes giving cutting capacities of up to 63mm (2.5″) mild steel. Global shears are designed and built to last because they are made from quality components and have a strong metal shell. You can rest assured that your investment will be protected for many years to come.

McIntyre 600HD alligator shear
The 600HD is a fast and strong metal cutting shear with an extended hold down clamp, making it ideal for every cutting and cleaning task whether cable, plastic sections or window frames. Its cutting capacity is up to 63mm, 2″ inch mild steel round bar.
The 600HD alligator shear is probably best known for dealing with car radiators. It was designed and built following requests from customers who were looking for a shear with a longer blade to cut larger items such as car radiators which it cuts through in one pass. The automatic hold down clamp holds material in place during the cutting cycle and prevents kick back which speeds up processing and improves operator safety.
As with all McIntyre shears, opening and closing the jaws is controlled from a moveable foot pedal. As soon as the foot pedal is released, the cutting blades return to the open position. However, a continuous cutting action can be achieved by keeping foot pressure on the pedal.
The 600HD can be supplied with an electric motor or with a 2-cylinder diesel engine.

JMC McIntyre 500HD hydraulic alligator shear
Here’s a new generation hydraulic alligator shear which is faster and more powerful than any other machine of its size. One of its most impressive features is an automatic hold down clamp with a 508mm, 20 inch, blade which makes light work of automotive aluminium scrap. Complete gear boxes, cylinder heads and blocks, oversized gate valves and all non ferrous separations are all chopped with ease. It also works just as well with aluminium extrusion, window frames, car tyres and car wheels.
The 500HD hydraulic alligator shear is operated with a moveable foot pedal. Operators can select a continuous cutting action by keeping pressure on the foot pedal. As soon as pressure is released the cutting blades return immediately to the open position, thus increasing operator safety.
The shears can be moved around your yard because it has locking rubber wheels. The 500HD can be supplied as an electric or diesel shear which comes with a 2-cylinder Lister Petter engine.

JMC McIntyre 200B Alligator Shear
Here’s a versatile 8″ blade alligator shear which may look small, but it has a big cutting capacity. If the metal you want to cut fits into the jaw of a 200B then, in most cases, it will cut it. The 200B alligator shear is suitable to use on a bench top but most people opt for a wheeled stand.
JMC has designed this 8″ shear with a staggering cutting force which is much higher than other machines of a similar size on the market today. It will cut 42mm, 1.65″ mild steel round bar and the force of the shear plus its wide tip to tip opening means that the 200B can deal efficiently with a range of non-ferrous cleaning and sizing operations. It’s particularly good dealing with larger electric cables and valves.
The jaws are controlled from a cable operated foot pedal. The greater the pressure applied, the greater the shear force. However, with operator safety in mind, the cutting blades return to the open position as soon as foot pressure is released. There is also a manual hold-down clamp which prevents material kick back and maintains a safe distance between the operator and the blades.

-
Cable
-
Electronic scrap
-
Ferrous metal processing
-
Non ferrous metal processing
